1) VHS Tape Video Hong Kong 97 (Sp) [VHS] by Vidmark / Trimark. This movie ROCKS!!! From start to finish it is an awesome thriller that keeps you on the seat of your chair. It takes place on the eve of Hong Kongs turn over from British to Chinese rule. The plot is awesome and the characters are great. The movie reminds me of Hong Kong just as I saw it FIRST HAND care of Uncle Sams navy. I was there so the other reviewer who critised the setting is crazy!!! The streets, the sounds, it IS HONG KONG!!! Perhaps the movie lacks big name OVERPAID idiot actors but who cares. Tim Thomerson is a VETERAN actor with a LONG list of film credits under his belt. Robert Patrick does an awesome job in this film as the main character. Robert Patrick was awesome in the X-FILES. It´s not his fault that all the good writers and producers had fled the show by the time he came on board. Though it may not be a Hollywood blockbuster that was given 50 million for production, its a great film for what it is. From start to finish a great movie. If your looking for a great action film with an interesting story line, then this is for you. Only problem is......NO DVD!!!!¤ 2) VHS Tape Video Hong Kong 97 (Sp) [VHS] by Vidmark / Trimark. Albert Pyun, whose credits include KICKBOXER 2 and selected films from Ice-T´s Filmwerks collection brought this Robert Patrick shooter to life. The action sequences in this film are nicely-done and look almost like a "poor man´s John Woo" but the story itself goes nowhere and the characters are so tired that unless there is a gun fight going on, it doesn´t matter.¤ 3) VHS Tape Video Hong Kong 97 (Sp) [VHS] by Vidmark / Trimark. The first time I saw this movie I thought ´huh?´ Too much violence. I now love the movie. I´ve seen it about 4 times and have enjoyed it better each time. I am now waiting on my own copy which is the mail as we speak. Please see this movie again to really appreciate the storyline and the great characters and the romance.¤ 4) VHS Tape Video Hong Kong 97 (Sp) [VHS] by Vidmark / Trimark. Hong Kong 97 is a boring film filled with endless gun shooting crosses & Double crosses and worst of all the bad acting is so noticable in this film it`s no wonder it never rises high above the b-video genre. None of the actors are good ones when was the last time Robert Patrick had a good role? the man has the capabilty to hold his own but not with cliche ridden mess like film has. The first 12 or so minutes were riverting otherwise it fell quick to stupid and rather absurd dialouge. Albert Pyun the director of grade b films has made a film that`s a carbon copy of action films before it, the location looked nothing like Honk Kong but more like Toronto. Patrick plays Camereon, an assassin for a huge company who kills a chinese general in cold blood and is marked for death by the chinese goverment as well as other assassins. I hate this film with a passion and its a shame the director didn`t have a better more creative script to work with.¤ 5) VHS Tape Video Hong Kong 97 (Sp) [VHS] by Vidmark / Trimark. Albert Pyun is one of the busiest directors around but why is a major mystery as most of his movies are terrible. This one ranks among the very bottom of the barrel.¤ Page Updated: Robert N.
