1) Audio CD Music Mamma Mia! by Decca. Wonderful CD if you loved the musical or the movie; Meryl Streep is a particularly fine singer, and all the tracks carry the easy gaiety of the show. A clarification (that I was looking for when purchasing) is that these are indeed the songs from the show/movie itself, NOT the original ABBA songs (not to be missed either).¤ 2) Audio CD Music Mamma Mia! by Decca. Splendid except for the fact that it did not contain "Thank you for the music"¤ 3) Audio CD Music Mamma Mia! by Decca. The CD was still wrapped and brand new as promised. Gave as a christmas gift, so I am not sure of the DVD, but I haven´t heard anything bad.¤ 5) Audio CD Music Mamma Mia! by Decca. When the film version of "Mamma Mia!" was released in July 2008, many wondered how an all-star Hollywood cast, including Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Meryl Streep, and relative newcomer Amanda Seyfried, would fare singing some of ABBA´s timeless classics. Overall, the group did an excellent job, with some songs shining brightly in the pop stratosphere.
Without a doubt, the two singing stars from the film are Streep and Seyfriend. The former has particularly touching vocals on ´The Winner Takes It All´ and rocks on the title track, while the latter shines in ´Honey, Honey´ and ´Lay All Your Love on Me´. Colin Firth puts in a decent effort with his cohorts on ´Our Last Summer´, and co-stars Christine Baranski and Julie Walters make ´Dancing Queen´, ´Super Trouper´, and ´Take a Chance on Me´ even more delectable.
Unfortunately, Pierce Brosnan´s strained and often off-key attempts do detract from the soundtrack. While it was somewhat cute in the film, his butchering of ´When All is Said and Done´ and ´SOS´ keep the soundtrack from being a solid five stars. I do commend him for his efforts, but this is a musical, not a Bond film. I expected more.
Overall, the soundtrack to "Mamma Mia!" is sure to please anyone who enjoyed the movie, providing endless chances to sing alone to one of the great musical films.¤ 6) Audio CD Music Mamma Mia! by Decca.
