Heavy Metal is a ponderous rock form characterized by brittle, flashy guitar work, unnaturally high-pitched male vocals and an adolescent fascination with the darker side of human experience. Born in the late 1960s of bands such as Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, heavy metal is currently associated with bands such as Judas Priest (1974), Anthrax (1981), Metallica (1981), Slayer (1982) and Soundgarden. Also called metal and speed metal.

Life after Megadeth
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine bounces back from a hand injury and rock star excesses to new life - and a final and blistering album. It was feared that Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine would never play guitar again. But two years after an accident left the singer-guitarist with severe nerve damage to his left arm and hand, he can be heard loud and clear on the band´s latest, and 14th album, The System Has Failed. Released on Sept 13, 2004 it entered the US Billboard charts at No. 18 and the Canadian charts at No. 10 in its first week. It sold about 46,000 copies in the US in its first week.
It took four months of physical therapy and a year of weights training to get to the condition he is in today: ´absolutely recovered´. The injury also came at a time when Mustaine, known for his rock star excesses, was looking to clean up his act. ´When my arm got hurt, I was visiting a place in Texas and I was just standing on the top of this beautiful hill and there was a cross there,´ he recalls. 'And I thought, 'God, what have I got to lose? I've tried everything else'. And then I accepted Jesus into my life and things got better.'
He says he has no regrets about his past and will still orchestrate metal mayhem with his guitar. 'Am I trying to live a better life now? Yes. Does that mean I'm not going to be Dave Mustaine and go kick your butt with my guitar? No,' says the man who taught himself to play guitar fast by learning Iron Maiden, Motorhead and Judas Priest songs. Dave Mustaine previously played for Metallica. Megadeth has been disbanded.
